Police appeal after illegal car meeting sees drivers drifting in Market Deeping

Police have launched an appeal after hundreds of drivers attended an illegal car meeting in Market Deeping over the weekend.

More than 200 cars turned up to the Northfields Industrial Estate on Saturday, December 5.

A Lincolnshire police spokesman said: "At around 8pm around 200 cars were present at this location and in the Halifax Drive area, before leaving when officers attended.

"We are grateful to the people who reported this meeting to us, which was a breach of the government’s coronavirus guidelines.

"Officers will be looking at any offences for this breach or offences under the Road Traffic Act, as some vehicles were taking part in drifting."

On Saturday night a dispersal order was put in place in Peterborough to prevent a planned car meeting, which had been scheduled to take place at the Fair Meadow Car Park in the city.
