Scarlett Harvey was given the 10 week jail sentence after admitting a string of offences at Peterborough Magistrates' Court earlier this month.

Harvey (29) of Carl Henry Court, Peterborough, stole a handbag containing cash on September 7 in Peterborough - and then earlier this month took alcohol worth £276 from Tesco in Bourne.

When she was arrested in Bourne, she admitted having an article for the use in theft in her possession.

Harvey also admitted breaching supervision requirements imposed following her last release from prison.

Magistrates said the offence was so serious because 'the defendant has a flagrant disregard for people and their property and because the offence was aggravated by the defendant's record of previous offending.'

Along with the jail sentence, Harvey was ordered to pay costs of £160 and a victim surcharge of £122.
