The hefty punishment was one of seven issued by Cambridgeshire police for breaking coronavirus rules relating to five incidents between December 30 and January 3, including two on New Year’s Eve.

The other six fines were £200 each.

A force spokeswoman said: “As usual our officers were out on patrol throughout the New Year period engaging, explaining and encouraging people to follow Covid regulations
