Peterborough woman who did not isolate after returning from Sweden fined £1,000

The hefty punishment was one of seven issued by Cambridgeshire police for breaking coronavirus rules relating to five incidents between December 30 and January 3, including two on New Year’s Eve.

The other six fines were £200 each.

A force spokeswoman said: “As usual our officers were out on patrol throughout the New Year period engaging, explaining and encouraging people to follow Covid regulations

“We continue to work closely with local authority colleagues and urge residents to take personal responsibility to do all they can to help protect themselves and our communities.”

Incidents

. One man fined for visiting a friend’s address in Peterborough on December 31 when he lives in London

. One man stopped on the A1M at Sawtry on January 2 and fined for visiting friends in Peterborough before travelling home to London

. An international travel fine handed to a woman from Peterborough on January 3 for not isolating after returning from Sweden

. One woman fined for having eight people from outside her household visit her home in Cambridge on New Year’s Eve

. Three people fined for attending a different address in Cambridge on January 2.
