Peterborough woman charged with murdering man

A woman has become the second person to be charged with murdering a man in Peterborough earlier this year.

Melanie Wright, 47, of South Parade, Peterborough, has been charged with murder and is due to appear virtually at Peterborough Magistrates Court this morning (29 July) via video link.

Police were called at 4.45pm on 25 May with reports of a disturbance at a property in Park Road, Peterborough.

Officers and paramedics attended but Nigel Wright, 64, of Park Road, died at the scene.

A post mortem examination concluded he died as a result of traumatic head and facial injuries.

Barry Chapman, 34, of Paynels, Orton Goldhay, Peterborough, has also been charged with murder and is due to stand trial at Cambridge Crown Court on 17 November.
