Peterborough train passenger arrested on suspicion of assaulting and racially abusing off duty police officer

A passenger on a train in Peterborough has been arrested for allegedly assaulting and racially abusing an off duty police officer.

British Transport Police officers were called to Peterborough Station at 8.42pm on Tuesday where they arrested a 30-year-old man on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker, a public order offence, a racially aggravated public order offence and criminal damage.

The man has since been released under investigation as enquiries continue.
