Peterborough pensioner has her independence stolen after thieves take her mobility scooter

A hearltess thief stole the mobility scooter of a woman in her 80s from outside her Peterborough home.

The theft of the Colt Deluxe mobility scooter from Crown Street took place last Friday (February 5).

The victim, a women in her 80s, left it underneath her ground floor flat window at approximately 8pm on Friday evening. The next day at approximately 1pm she noticed the scooter had been taken.

The scooter is red in colour and has a black basket with a blue bag on the head rest.

Detective Constable Justin Howard said: “The victim is registered disabled and requires the mobility scooter to do her daily chores in and around the area she lives.

“The theft of the scooter will have a significant impact on her daily routine and independence.

“I urge anyone with information or who may have witnessed the incident to contact us on 101.”
