Police were patrolling Broadway, in the city centre, on 29 December, 2019, when they were called to an incident at the College Arms.

Once inside the nightspot, they saw 24-year-old Kevin Nall becoming aggressive with door staff who were trying to make him leave.

The officers approached and also told him to leave but he continued to be aggressive and pushed one of the officers in the chest.

Nall pushed the same officer backwards again and while being arrested became verbally abusive, shouting threats and kicking out at the officers as they handcuffed him.

Nall, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to assault by beating of an emergency worker and on Monday (January 18) was handed a 12-month community order alongside a 10-day rehabilitation order at Huntingdon Crown Court.

Sergeant Chris Hallam said: “This was an attack against a police officer who was simply doing her job and safeguarding others inside the establishment.

“Thankfully the officer did not suffer serious injuries, but this type of behaviour is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated.”
