Peterborough man in court charged with theft of giant snail

A Peterborough man has been charged with the theft of a snail - amongst a number of other offences.

Nadeem Atwell, 32, of Crabtree, Peterborough was arrested in the Fengate area of the city on Thursday.

He was charged with burglary, which included the theft of a Giant African Land Snail and a television set. the burglary is said to have taken place in the early hours of Monday in Stanground.

He also faces charges of drink driving - where it is alleged he was more than twice the legal limit, and driving without insurance or a valid licence.

He was due to appear at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
