A Peterborough man is due in court today (Monday) charged with assaulting three police officers and drink driving.

Officers arrested Aivaras Osikas on Bakewell Road, Peterborough just after midday yesterday after he failed to stop for officers.

A police spokesman said: "Aivaras Osikas, 25, of Outfield, Bretton, Peterborough, has been charged with failing to stop, failing to co-operate with a preliminary test (roadside breath test), drink driving and three counts of assaulting an emergency worker."

It is alleged he gave a breathalyser reading of 87ugs in 100ml of breath when he was taken to the police station - the legal limit is 35ugs.

His first court appearance is scheduled to take place at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court today (15 February).
