Peterborough man charged with murder

A man has been charged with murder following a death at a Peterborough property.

Barry Chapman, 34, of Paynels, Orton Goldhay, Peterborough, has been charged with murder and remains in custody to appear virtually at Cambridge Magistrates’ Court today (28 May).

Police were called at 4.45pm on Monday (25 May) with reports of a disturbance at a property in Park Road, Peterborough.

Officers and paramedics attended but Nigel Wright, 64, of Park Road, died at the scene.

A post mortem examination conducted yesterday (26 May) at Peterborough City Hospital concluded he died as a result of traumatic head and facial injuries.

Chapman, also known as Barry Chalcraft, also faces a separate charge of the rape of a woman in Peterborough.
