Peterborough man charged over alleged racially motivated incident outside city mosque

A man has been charged following an alleged racially motivated incident outside a Peterborough mosque.

Gul Faraz, 62, of Cambridge Avenue in Peterborough, was arrested on Saturday afternoon (22 August) in connection with an incident outside Faizan E Madina mosque in Gladstone Street on 17 August.

He has since been charged with two counts of using threatening, abusive or insulting behaviour with intent to cause harassment, alarm or distress, one of which was racially aggravated.

Faraz has been remanded in custody to appear at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court today (Monday 24 August).
