Peterborough man arrested on suspicion of attempting to abduct young children

Police have arrested a man in connection with two suspicious incidents in Eye involving children.

The 30-year-old from Peterborough was arrested yesterday afternoon (Monday 26 October) on suspicion of two counts of attempted abduction of a child.

He remains in custody at Thorpe Wood Police Station.

On Saturday (24 October) police appealed for information following reports of two separate suspicious incidents in Eye whereby a man was reported to have asked a five-year-old boy to go with him in his van outside Boots chemist in the high street.

The other is reported to have happened at about 9.30am the same morning (Thursday) where a man got out of a van and approached a three-year-old girl in Eyebury Road.

A Cambridgeshire police spokesman said parents of the children were near-by on both occassions.
