Peterborough man arrested after ‘offering police officer £1,000 to alter drink drive reading’

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempting to pervert the course of justice after allegedly offering a police officer £1,000 after he was stopped for drink driving.

A Cambridgeshire police spokesman said the man, aged in his 20s, was stopped in Stanground this morning (Tuesday).

The spokesman said the man had given a breathalyser reading nearly three times over the limit, before allegedly offering the officer the money to alter the reading.

The man is currently in custody at Thorpe Wood Police Station.
