Peterborough man arrested after 14 hour armed police incident remains in custody as officers ‘re-arrest’ him over assault

A man arrested following a 14 hour armed police incident in Peterborough yesterday remains in custody this morning as police question him overallegations of an assault.

The 22-year-old was arrested at an address in Earls Court, Fletton at around 4pm yesterday. Officers had been called to teh address at about 2am, and the road remained closed for more than 14 hours as police negotiators were brought to the scene.

The man was originally arrested on suspicion of kidnapping.

However, this morning a Cambridgeshire police spokeswoman said he was still in custody, but was further arrested for assault causing grievous bodily harm (GBH) last night.
