Peterborough drink driver given suspended sentence

A Peterborough driver caught over the drink drive limit has been given a suspended jail sentence - with others who put lives at risk by driving under the influence of drink and drugs banned from the roads.

Daniel McPherson (40) of Winterton, Peterborough, was given an eight week jail sentence, suspended for 18 months after he was stopped on Broadway, Crowland on November 24.

McPherson, who was also behind the wheel of the Hyundai car with no insurance, give a breathalyser reading of 61 microgrammes (ugs) of alcohol in 100ml of breath - the legal limit is 35ugs.
Magistrates said they were imposing the suspended sentence because of McPherson’s previous record.

He was also banned from the roads for five years, ordered to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work, and take part in a Rehabilitation Activity Requirement for 10 days. He was also told to pay a victim surcharge of £122, and costs of £85.

Calum Martn (28) of Whittlesey Road, Peterborough, was disqualified from driving for a year after he was caught drug driving in Crawthorne Road.

He was stopped in a Ford Fiesta on July 22 last year, and tested positive for benzoylecgonine.

Along with the driving ban, he was fined £276, and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £32, and costs of £85.

Lukasz Wrzeszcz (24) of The Dell, Peterborough, was nearly twice the limit when he was stopped close to his home on December 13.

He was behind the wheel of a Peugeot on The Dell when police arrested him. He later gave a breathalyser reading of 68ugs in 100ml of breath.

He was fined £369, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £36 and costs of £85. He was also disqualified from driving for 20 months - this can be reduced by 20 weeks if the drink drive rehabilitation course is completed by 28/2/21.

Mikolaj Majcher was banned fro 18 months when he was caught driving a BMW while over the limit on Broadway, Peterborough.

Majcher (23) of Chestnut Avenue, was stopped on November 24.

He was fined £230, and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £32, and costs of £85. His ban can be reduced by 18 weeks if the course is completed by Christmas Day this year.

Guiyoulouwe Mailancol (25) of Nene Road, Huntingdon was banned from driving for 18 months after he refused to give a blood sample to police on July 7. He was caught on Four Chimney’s Crescent in a Peugeot 307, which he had no insurance for.

He was also found guilty of assaulting two police officers, and admitted failing to surrender to custody.

He was ordered to pay each police officer £50 compensation, pay a victim surcharge of £90, and costs of £300, and carry out 180 hours of unpaid work.
