Peterborough drink driver caught six times over limit

A man caught driving in Peterborough six times over the drink drive limit has been given a suspended sentence.

Ben Jarvis (39) of Silver Street, Peterborough, was driving a Toyota Aygo on Elm Street when he was arrested on August 27 last year.

Jarvis was one of 13 people to be sentenced at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court for drink or drug driving in the space of a week.

He appeared in the dock on February 27, where the court heard he gave a reading of 299 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood - the legal limit is 50 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

Jarvis was given a 12 week prison sentence, suspended for 24 months, and was ordered to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work. He was also ordered to take part in a Rehabilitation Activity Requirement for 10 days, pay a victim surcharge of £122 and costs of £85. He was banned from driving for five years.

Ravi Vara (35), of Loch Fyne Close, Orton Northgate, was caught driving a Mercedes on Oundle Road on January 6 this year.

He gave a breathalyser reading of 140 microgrammes (ugs) of alcohol in 100 mililitres (ml) of breath - the legal limit is 35ugs in 100ml of breath.

Magistrates gave him an eight week prison sentences, suspended for 12 months when he pleaded guilty to drink driving at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court on February 20. He was also ordered to carry out 180 hours of unpaid work, pay a victim surcharge of £122 and costs of £85. He was disqualified from driving for 35 months - which can be reduced by 35 weeks if he completes a drink drive rehabilitation curse by February 28 2022.

Rachenda Chapman (25) was more than twice the limit when she was stopped on January 19 on the A47 at Guyhirn.

She gave a breathalyser reading of 72ugs in 100ml of breath.

She appeared at the Magistrates’ Court on the same day as Vara, and pleaded guilty to drink driving. She was ordered to pay a £120 fine, a £32 victim surcharge and £85 costs. She was banned for 19 months. The ban can be reduced by 19 weeks if she completed the course by March 9 next year.

Lukasz Raiter (29) was banned from driving for a year after being caught driving under the influence of cannabis - and without having a valid licence or insurance.

Raiter, of Earls Close, Peterborough, was stopped on Lincoln Road on September 26 last year. He appeared at court on February 20, where he pleaded guilty to drug driving, driving with no insurance and driving otherwise in accordance with a licence. He was fined £200, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £32 and costs of £85.

Demetrio Salmonte (41) of Benland, Bretton, also admitted driving under the influence of cannabis. He was stopped on St Pauls Road on August 17.

He was fined £275, and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £32 and costs of £85. He was banned from driving for 15 months.

Ali Sammiee Kheiri (51) of Bellevue, Peterborough was more than twice the drink drive limit when he was stopped on Midgate, Peterborough on November 2.

He gave a reading of 127 milligrammes of alcohol in 100ml of blood. The legal limit is 50 milligrammes.

He was fined £120 and ordered to pay a £32 victim surcharge and £85 costs. He was also banned from the roads for 15 months - the ban can be reduced by 15 weeks if the course is completed by December 3 this year.

Mario Silva Dos Reis (60), of Gatenby, Peterborough, was banned for 21 months after he was caught drink driving on Gatenby, close to his home, on January 28.

He gave a breathalyser reading of 86ugs in 100ml of breath.

He was fined £250, and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £32 and costs of £85. His ban can be reduced by 21 weeks if he completes the course by April 26 next year.

Christopher Tewksbary (45) of Rowledge Court, Peterborough was banned from driving for more than a year after admitting drink driving.

He was caught on January 19 on Sages Lane, and gave a breathalyser reading of 52ugs in 100ml of breath.

Along with drink driving, he also admitted destroying a Codes of Practice Book belonging to Cambridgeshire police, and using threatening or abusive words or behaviour.

He was fined £150, and ordered to pay compensation of £20, a victim surcharge of £32 and £85 costs. He was banned from driving for 14 months, although the ban can be reduced by 14 weeks if the course is completed by 12/11/20.

Adil Pervez appeared at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court on February 24, where he admitted driving while disqualified, driving with no insurance and driving while under the influence of benzoylecgonine. He was stopped while driving an Audi A3 on Ledbury Road on July 14.

He was ordered to carry out 140 hours of unpaid work, to pay £200 costs and a £90 victim surcharge, and was banned from driving for 40 months.

Kacper Ciesluk (28) of Chadburn, Peterborough, was fined £200 after being caught driving while two times over the drink drive limit.

Ciesluk was arrested after being stopped on Chadburn on February 8. He gave a breathalyser reading of 70ugs in 100ml of breath. Along with admitting drink driving, he also pleaded guilty to driving with no insurance.

He was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £32, costs of £85, and was banned from driving for 20 months. The ban can be reduced by 20 weeks if he completes the course by April 9 2021.

Gary Loades (45) of Chapel Lane, Wimblington, was banned from driving for 40 months after he was stopped on Upwell Road on February 8.

He gave a reading of 71ugs in 100ml of breath, and was fined £500, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £50 and costs of £85. His ban can be reduced by 40 weeks if he completes the course by July 20 2022.

Ernestas Budrys (36) of Star Road, Peterborough, was given a £200 after admitting drink driving, driving otherwise in accordance with a licence and driving with no insurance. He was stopped on Burghley Road on February 11, and gave a breathalyser reading of 63ugs in 100ml of breath.

He was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £32 and costs of £85, and was given a driving ban for 17 months.

Grzegorz Tarasiuk (32) of Falcon Close, Dartford, was caught behind the wheel while unfit through drugs on the A1 at Peterborough on September 2. He was also driving otherwise in accordance with a licence and with no insurance.

He was fined £192, and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £32 and costs of £85. He was also banned from driving for three years,

Monika Wiszniewska (36) of Oxclose, Peterborough, was fined £200 after admitting drink driving. She was stopped on the Nene Parkway on January 26, and gave a reading of 87ugs in 100ml of breath. She was also ordered to pay a £200 victim surcharge and costs of £85. Her 20 month disqualification can be reduced by 20 weeks if the course is completed by April 9 2021.

The victim surcharge in all court cases goes to a national pot to help victims of crime across the UK.
