Parked cars found badly damaged overnight in street near Peterborough

Two parked cars were found badly damaged in a Peterboorugh street yesterday (January 7) after appearing to have been hit overnight.

The vehicles were parked on the side of the road at the bottom of Mere View, Yaxley.

The overnight collision saw the back of a silver car significantly damaged, leaving debris all over the road and the car pushed onto the footpath. It appears to have also hit a black car parked close by causing the boot to come open.

According to some local residents, the incident took place around 4am.

One resident said: “People drive down that road unreasonably fast. I wish there were speed bumps in place to make the road safer.”

Police attended the incident and managed to clear the debris as well as track down the owners of the cars, who has since arranged for the recovery of the vehicles.

A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Police said: “We were called at 8.52am today (January 7) with reports a car had hit two parked cars on Mere View, Yaxley.

“Officers attended the scene but nobody was present and nobody was injured.

“No arrests have been made at this time.”
