Man who stole Gucci jacket and gift sets from Peterborough shops is jailed

A thief from Peterborough with a taste for designer goods has been jailed after stealing Gucci products worth thousands of pounds.

Cambridgeshire Police said Brendon Keating, 27, went to Boots, in Queensgate, Peterborough, on 14 March where he stole two Gucci gift sets worth £200.

"On 22 March and again the following day, he repeated the crime, going back to the shop twice and stealing two gift sets on each occasion,” a force spokesperson said.

“After the third theft, on 23 March, he went to Frasers, in Queensgate, where he stole a Gucci jacket worth nearly £3,000.

“Between 26 February and 25 March, Keating, of Belvoir Way, Dogsthorpe, Peterborough, also stole alcohol from Asda, in Viersen Platz, Rivergate, a jacket from TK Maxx, in Queensgate, and laundry products from Savers, in Westgate, Peterborough.”

On Friday (27 March) at Cambridge Magistrates' Court, Keating was jailed for a year, having admitted eight counts of theft from a shop.

PC Jack Jenkins, from the Spree Offender Team, commented: “This was not a one‑off opportunistic theft, but a pattern of deliberate, repeat offending, where Keating specifically targeted Gucci products.

“He was clearly targeting high-end goods for their potential re-sale value, but this offending caught up with him.

“We continue to work closely with retailers to combat theft and identify prolific offenders.”
