Man charged with distraction burglaries due in court in Peterborough

A 55-year-old man has been charged with multiple distraction burglaries and thefts after his arrest last Thursday (2 July).

Anthony Smith has been charged with three counts of committing fraud by false representation, three counts of theft and driving without a license or insurance.

These charges relate to three incidents which occurred in early June where it is reported victims lost £1000.

Smith, of Fenland Way, Chatteris, appeared at Huntingdon Magistrates’ Court on Saturday (4 July) where he was remanded in custody to appear at Peterborough Crown Court on 31 July.
