Man arrested on suspicion of kidnapping after armed police surrounded Peterborough property for 14 hours

A man has been arrested on suspicion of kidnapping following an incident which saw police surround a Peterborough home for more than 14 hours.

Officers were called to the home in Earls Court, Fletton at 2am today.

Negotiators and armed police were at the scene all morning and much of the afternoon trying to bring the incident to a safe conclusion.

The road remains closed while police continue to work at the scene. Earlier in the morning other parts of Fletton, including the High Street, were also closed.

This afternoon a police spokesman said: “A 22-year-old man from Peterborough has been arrested on suspicion of kidnapping and has been taken to Thorpe Wood police station.”
