Man arrested after Fenland hare coursing reports

Police arrested a man after reports of hare coursing in Fenland.

Cambridgeshire Police said they were called to the Turves area on Sunday (September 13) after a resident contacted officers.

A spokesperson for the force said when they arrived, the vehicle that had been reported had ‘left the area’ – but officers caught up with it nearby.

The spokesperson said: “The occupants didn’t fancy stopping to chat with us and tried to make off both in the car and on foot, but our officers eventually detained the three men in Benwick.

“The car was seized and a 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of breaching a court order he has in relation to hare coursing.

“The other two men were interviewed at the roadside – one of them was issued with a Community Protection Warning, and the other was given a Community Protection Notice.

“Thank you to the individual who spotted something suspicious and contacted us.”
