Man arrested after break in at Peterborough shop

A man has been arrested on suspicion of breaking into a store and stealing a charity box

Police were called to the QD store at Ortongate after the alarm was set off, and when they arrived they spotted a man leaving the front of the store via a smashed window.

A 39-year-old man was arrested by police, and a holdall filled with suspected stolen goods was recovered.

The man was arrested and transported to Thorpe Wood Police Station for questioning.

Among the suspected stolen goods was a charity collection for the East Anglia Children’s Hospice.
