Tedros Debesay, 20, was found hiding in the garden of a house in Vergette Street, Eastfield, by police officers who were there on an unrelated matter on 8 January last year (2020).

In the pitch black, officers came across Debesay who was crouched down next to an outbuilding, along with two medium-sized bags of cannabis, a set of weighing scales and multiple plastic ‘deal’ bags.

Debesay, of Hempstead Road in Walthamstow, was initially released under investigation but later charged with possession with intent to supply cannabis.

On Tuesday (6 April), he appeared at Peterborough Crown Court where he pleaded guilty to the charge and was sentenced to a year in prison, suspended for two years.

He has also been made subject of a curfew between the hours of 8pm and 3am, which will last for three months.

“I would encourage anyone with concerns about drug use or dealing to get in touch with us, this can be done anonymously, but could help someone out of addiction or even those who may have found themselves down the wrong path and are trapped in dealing.”
