Large hare coursing meet stopped by armed police - as a number of lockdown fines are issued

A large hare coursing meeting was stopped by armed police - and a number of fines were issued for breaches of lockdown rules.

The meeting was due to happen around the Lincolnshire and Cambridgeshire border, and police officers from both forces worked to stop it from happening today (January 19)

Inspector Nick Waters, from Linolnshire police said: “We believe we prevented what was likely to be a large hare coursing meet and this is the reason no persons were dealt with for hare coursing offences.

“We worked closely with Cambs police as the vehicles were back and forth across the border and those that were stopped were issued covid tickets and where they could, vehicles were seized.

"Air support and support from out Armed Response Vehicles (ARVs) and Dogs was provided.”
