House in Peterborough closed by police after drug dealing and criminality impacts neighbours

Police have closed a house in Peterborough due to “drug dealing and associated criminality”.

The full closure order was served on 22 Wayside Crescent in Hampton Vale, following an application at Cambridge Magistrates’ Court on Friday (30 January) by the local Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT).

Cambridgeshire Police said the three-month order prohibits everyone, including the legal tenant, from accessing the address, with the exception of emergency services, Peterborough City Council, and Accent Nene Housing.

Failure to comply with the order is a criminal offence which could result in imprisonment for up to three months, a fine, or both.

PC Stephanie Williams, from the Peterborough southern NPT, said: “The behaviour of the tenant and those frequenting the address has had a significant impact on the nearby residents.

“We worked closely with the Accent Nene Housing to ensure that action was taken, and the concerns of the community were acted upon.

“I hope this result shows them that we do listen to their concerns and will carry out regular checks to ensure the order is adhered to.”

Anyone with information about the order being breached should contact police online at www.cambs.police.uk/report. Those without internet access should call 101.
