Firearms officers recover weapon from Peterborough street
Police firearms officers were called to a residential street in Peterborough yesterday after a man found what he suspected was a gun.
The member of the public was gardening in Lawson Avenue in Stanground when he found a plastic bag with what appeared to be a handgun in it.
Firearms officers attended the address and recovered the weapon.
It is suspected to be an imitation handgun, but police are carrying out forensic tests to establish this and investigations into who it belongs to continue.
