Drug driver banned at Peterborough court after being caught twice in two days

A motorist caught driving under the influence of cannabis twice in two days has been banned from the roads.

Rizwan Ali (25) was first stopped by police on September 20 last year, as he was driving an Audi A4 on Lincoln Road in Peterborough.The following day he was stopped on Avenue Road in Huntingfon, again in the black Audi. He again tested positive for cannabis.

And less than a month later, Ali, of Bradshaw Close, Huntingdon, was again stopped while driving the Audi - this time in High Street, Huntingdon. He tested positive for cannabis for a third time on October 6.

Ali appeared at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court last week, where he was banned from driving for 18 months, ordered to take part in a rehabilitation activity requirement for 15 days, and to pay a £120 fine, a victim surcharge of £90 and costs of £100.

A number of other motorists caught driving under the influence were also banned from the roads at court.

David Duthie (79) of Brunel Drive, Yaxley, admitted drink driving after he was stopped on London Road, Yaxley on November 21.

He gave a reading of 120 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80 millilitres.

Duthie was given an £80 fine, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £32 and costs of £85. He was also banned from driving for 12 months - the ban can be reduced by 13 weeks if a drink drive rehabilitation course is completed by 4/10/20.

James McCracken (34) of Eagle Way, Hampton, was nearly twice the limit when he was caught on February 2.

He was driving on the A1139 when he was pulled over, and later gave a reading of 68 microgrammes (ugs) of alcohol in 100 ml of breath. The limit is 35ugs.

McCracken was fined £120, ordered to bay a victim surcharge of £32 and costs of £85, and banned from driving for 18 months. His ban can be reduced by 18 weeks if the course is completed by 2/3/21.

Andrzej Trojanowski (53) of Lutton Grove, Peterborough, was given a 12 month ban after admitting drink driving.

He was caught on Bourges Boulevard on February 2, and gave a reading of 53ugs in 100ml of breath.

He was fined £80, and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £32, and £85 costs. His ban can be reduced by 12 weeks if the course is completed by 4/10/20.

Hayley Banks was more than twice the limit when she was caught drink driving in Broadway, Peterborough on January 31 this year.

She gave a reading of 75ugs in 100ml of breath.

Banks (24) of Mill Close, Nuneaton, was fined £500, ordered to pay a £50 victim surcharge and £85 costs, and was banned from the roads for 42 months.

Davis Suscenko (26) of Atkinson Street, Peterborough, was ordered to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work after he was caught three times over the limit in Padholme Road.

Suscenko was driving a VW Golf when he was stopped by police on February 22 this year.

Along with the community service, he was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £90, costs of £85, and was banned from driving for 26 months. The ban can be reduced by 26 weeks if the course is completed by 3/9/21.
