Driver who destroyed fence in Peterborough arrested on suspicion of drug driving

A driver who crashed and destroyed a fence in a Peterborough street yesterday (May 3) has been arrested on suspicion of drug driving and driving without a licence.

Police were notified that a single-vehicle collision had taken place along Hargate Way in Hampton at 10:30am on Monday.

The driver, a 33-year-old man, left the road and continued to drive through an area of grass before coming to a halt after destroying a wooden fence.

The silver Seat Leon was significantly damaged and its driver was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drug driving without a licence.

A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Police said: “We were called at just after 10.30am yesterday (May 3) to reports of a single-vehicle collision on Hargate Way, Peterborough.

“The vehicle, a silver Seat Leon, left the road and crashed into a fence.

“A 33-year-old man from Peterborough was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drug driving and driving without a licence.

“He has since been released under investigation.”
