Driver of stolen Mercedes taken to hospital after Peterborough crash

The driver of a stolen Mercedes has been taken to hospital after crashing on icy roads in Peterborough.

The car had been stolen from Luton, and the crash happened in the early hours of this morning (Monday)

A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Constabulary said: “At about 4.30am officers spotted a Mercedes on the A1139 (Fletton Parkway) near Hampton in Peterborough that was believed to have been stolen from the Luton area.

“Before a pursuit could begin, the vehicle turned off towards the A605 near Cardea and was involved in a collision.

“The driver left the scene, but he was located by officers and arrested.

“He was taken to hospital in Bedford for treatment, but was not seriously injured.”
