Police are now reminding drivers to ensure their windscreens are clear before starting any journey.

A Cambridgeshire police spokesman said the incident happened last night. The spokesman said: "This driver saw a slip road closure at Bretton Gate earlier this evening (Tuesday) and thought it appropriate to drive the wrong way round the roundabout.

"When stopped by police their windscreen was still steamed up and they couldn't see out of it. After being spoken to their car battery had gone flat but was soon restarted by police so they could continue their journey once the windscreen was clear.

"Please remember to de-steam/defrost your windscreen fully before your journey.

"The driver has been reported for offences."
