Driver caught at 111mph on A1 at Peterborough - with unrestrained five-year-old in the back seat

Police have issued a warning about the dangers of speeding after catching a driver travelling at 111mph on the A1 at Peterborough - with an unrestrained 5-year-old in the back seat.

Officers stopped the driver over the bank holiday weekend, as he was travelling more than 40mph over the speed limit.

Police also said the driver was uninsured - and had his young son in the back of the car.

A spokesman for Cambridgeshire police said; “Officers from our Beds, Cambs & Herts Roads Policing Unit caught up with this vehicle travelling at 111mph on the A1M at Peterborough.

“They soon found the driver wasn’t insured to drive the vehicle... and that his 5 year old child was sat unrestrained in the back!

“Driver reported and fines to follow.”
