Coronavirus: Peterborough passenger ‘travelling for the fun of it’ ejected from rail station

A rail passenger in Peterborough was ejected from the city’s station this morning as he was travelling “just for the fun of it”.

The man was removed by British Transport Police officers who are enforcing social distancing rules from the Government to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

BTP said: “If your journey is not for medical purposes, essential shopping, exercise once a day or essential work travel then stay at home.”

Last week, it was announced that 500 BTP officers were being deployed to rail stations to “remind” people that only essential journeys should be made.

Rail timetables have been drastically cut back as only essential travel should be taken.
