There are currently no inmates in HMP Peterborough who have tested positive for Covid-19. Four prisons have seen a positive test among their population - HMP Manchester, HMP Birmingham, HMP Oakwood and HMP Highdown.

A spokesman for the Ministry of Justice said: “Existing, well-developed procedures are in place to manage outbreaks of infectious diseases and prisons are prepared if cases are identified. Plans are in place for dealing with staff absences if staff working in prisons need to self-isolate.”

HMP Peterborough is run by Sodexo, and is the only prison in the country with a male and a female wing.
