Police have released the CCTV images a week after the attack

Detective Inspector Nick Stubbs said: “This was a nasty assault, which initially left the victim fighting for his life.

“We know from CCTV footage that the road was really busy at the time of the incident and dozens of cars drove past and some members of the public stopped to help.

“I would urge any witnesses, or anyone with information, to get in touch if they haven’t done so already.

“The Reanult Megane that is pictured also appears to have quite distinctive alloy wheels which members of the public may remember.”
