Arsonists set fire to Peterborough home

Police have launched an appeal for witnesses after a flat was set on fire in Peterborough in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday).

Fire crews from Dogsthorpe and Stanground fire stations were called to the blaze on Welland Road, Dogsthorpe at about 2.45am today.

The firefighters arrived to find a fire affecting the outside of a ground floor flat. Wearing breathing apparatus, firefighters used a hose reel to extinguish the fire.

Crews returned to their stations by 4.30am.
