Fire crews from Dogsthorpe and Stanground fire stations were called to the blaze on Welland Road, Dogsthorpe at about 2.45am today.
The firefighters arrived to find a fire affecting the outside of a ground floor flat. Wearing breathing apparatus, firefighters used a hose reel to extinguish the fire.
Crews returned to their stations by 4.30am.
