Arson investigation after Peterborough house fire

A house was deliberately set on fire in Peterborough on Wednesday evening.

Firefighters were called to Padholme Road in Eastfield at around 10.20am.

Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Firefighters arrived to find a fire at the rear of a house, involving a shed, which was spreading to a neighbouring house.”

The fire was extinguished before noon, and anyone with information should either call 101, submit an online report at www.cambs.police.uk or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

Firefighters were also called on Wednesday to Winyates in Orton Goldhay at around 11pm after a washing machine outside a house was set on fire.

And earlier in the day, at around 5pm, crews were called to New Long Drove, off the B660, near Holme, due to a large barn fire.

All three fires are believed to be deliberate, and anyone with information should contact police.
