Armed police closed major Peterborough road after reports of axe-man being seen

Armed police closed a major Peterborough road in the middle of the night after residents reported seeing a man carrying an axe running up the road.

Cambridgeshire police were called at 1.55am today (28 August) to reports of violence in Lincoln Road, Peterborough.

A police spokesman said: “It was reported that man was seen running up the road, thought to be in possession of an axe.

“Armed officers attended and searches were carried out. Residents in the area were also spoken to but no further information was provided and no suspects were located.

“No one was injured as a result of the incident.”
