Armed police arrest boy ‘with weapon’ outside Peterborough community centre

Armed police arrested a boy allegedly seen outside a community centre in Peterborough with a baseball bat.

The 16-year-old was arrested at 4.55pm yesterday (Tuesday) near Southfields Community Centre in Stanground.

Police had originally been called to Whittlesey Road after reports of suspicious behaviour.

A force spokeswoman said: “It was reported that a group of men were seen with weapons and due to this, armed officers attended the scene.

“A 16-year-old boy from Peterborough was arrested at 4.55pm on Southfields Avenue, Peterborough.

“He was arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon and possession of Class B or C drugs and has since been released under investigation.
