Appeal as equipment at Peterborough play area targeted by arsonists
An appeal has been issued after a children’s play area was targeted by arsonists.
Firefighters were called to Orton Winyates play area, just off Alnwick on Tuesday evening (March 3).
Crews found a play house alight and worked to put out the blaze.
No other equipment was damaged as the fire was contained to that one area and the play area remains open.

The play house was completely destroyed, however, and the remains have been removed.
The cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate.
A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “At 5.26pm on Tuesday a crew from Stanground was called to a fire in the open on Winyates.
“Firefighters arrived the find a fire involving a play area. The crew used a hose reel to extinguish the fire and returned to their station by 6.10pm.
“The cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate. Anyone with information should contact police by visiting www.cambs.police.uk or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.”
