57-year-old man charged after attempted bike theft at Peterborough City Hospital set to appear in court

A 57-year-old man is set to appear in court today (July 19) after being charged with following an attempted bike theft at Peterborough City Hospital.

The man was arrested on Saturday morning after trying to steal a bike that had been locked up outside of the hospital.

He was later charged with criminal damage and going equipped for theft and is due to appear in Magistrates Court in the city today.

A statement from Cambridgeshire Police said: “On Saturday morning we made an arrest at Peterborough City Hospital in connection with bike theft.

“The 57-year-old from Peterborough has since been charged with criminal damage of a padlock at the hospital and going equipped for theft after being found with wire cutters on him.

“He’s been remanded in custody to appear at Peterborough Magistrates Court today.
