WATCH: Police arrest prolific thief who targeted Farmfoods and Next stores in Peterborough
A man who wasted a second chance given to him by the courts by stealing just three days after being sentenced has been jailed for almost a year.
Cambridgeshire Police said Darnell Baverstock, 27, was handed an eight-month suspended sentence and a three-year criminal behaviour order on 12 January after admitting seven theft offences.
However, he stole from Farmfoods, in Lincoln Road, Walton, Peterborough, on 15 January.
A force spokesperson said: “Baverstock, of no fixed address, went on to commit a further two thefts - stealing £1400 worth of diffusers from Next, in Brotherhood Retail Park, Peterborough, on 16 January and 21 January, before being arrested by the police spree offender team.”

He was jailed for 11 months, which includes the activation of the suspended sentence, and ordered to pay £1475 in compensation, after admitting the three thefts at Cambridge Magistrates’ Court on Friday (23 January).
PC Jack Jenkins, who investigated, said: “Baverstock has no regard for the impact of his offending on the businesses he targets, and he decided to continue despite being given a second chance.
“I would like to thank the retailers involved for reporting to us as we were able to swiftly arrest him.”
