Paedophile from Peterborough who used encrypted online chat rooms is jailed
A paedophile from Peterborough who used a special online chat room because he thought it would cover his tracks has been jailed.
Khurram Rajput, 38, used Chat IW on 28 occasions between 3 July and 23 July 2024, according to Cambridgeshire Police.
Chat IW is an encrypted chat room which doesn’t save chats, meaning they don’t appear in an internet history.
A force spokesperson said: “However, Rajput had his Samsung mobile phone seized by officers during a probation meeting in Peterborough on 23 July 2024 due to concerned he’d breached the terms of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) imposed in May 2023 following a conviction for non-contact child sex offences.

“Investigations into the data on the phone found no internet history prior to 2 July 2024 and Rajput had deleted the internet history.
“Part of his SHPO forbade him from using a computer or device capable of accessing the internet unless it can retain and display internet history.
“He was also prohibited from installing any encryption or wiping software on any device and had breached this by installing a Virtual Private Network (VPN) on the phone in June 2024.”
On Thursday (29 January), at Cambridge Crown Court, Rajput, of Nursery Close, Peterborough, was jailed for four years, having pleaded guilty to two counts of breaching a SHPO.
PC Emily Heriot, who investigated, said: “Rajput knew full well the conditions of his SHPO so it’s great he’s now been brought to justice for these flagrant breaches.
“It shows both the police and courts won’t tolerate breaches of these orders which are there to protect vulnerable people.”
