Man who stole six bottles of Jack Daniels whiskey from Peterborough supermarkets is jailed

A man who repeatedly stole bottles of alcohol from shops in Peterborough has been jailed.

Cambridgeshire Police said Jamie Graham, 44, went to Asda, in Viersen Platz, off Bourges Boulevard, on 24 February “where he took six bottles of Jack Daniels, worth more than £200, and left without paying”.

A force spokesperson continued: “On 2 March he went to Sainsbury’s, in Oxney Road, Parnwell, where he again stole alcohol, this time worth £93.

“Graham, of Mina Close, Stanground, Peterborough, was identified by members of the force’s Spree Offender Team and arrested.”

He admitted two counts of theft from a shop and, on 4 March at Peterborough Magistrates' Court, was jailed for 24 weeks. He was also ordered to pay £297 compensation.

PC Rebecca Risebrow, from the Spree Offender Team, said: “Graham is a persistent thief who simply strolled into these shops, took what he wanted, and left.

“It is incredibly frustrating for retailers who have to deal with this kind of behaviour. I’m pleased he was identified and has now appeared in court for his actions.”
