Man caught driving in Peterborough city centre with a fake driving licence is disqualified
A man who was caught driving in Peterborough city centre under a counterfeit licence has been handed a driving ban.
Cambridgeshire Police said their neighbourhood officers arrested 20 year-old Alex Rostas in Priestgate in June last year after his car flagged on ANPR as being linked to offences in London and surrounding areas.
They suspected he had a fake Romanian driving licence, which was confirmed by the National Document Fraud Unit.
At Peterborough Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday (3 February), Rostas, of Wood Lane, Dagenham, Greater London, admitted to driving without a licence and possessing an article – namely a counterfeit driving licence – for use in fraud.

He was banned from driving for six months and ordered to complete 180 hours of unpaid work.
PC Kristian Bennett, who investigated, said: “This was a good stop by the team, and we acted on our suspicions to identifying the true nature of the documents.”
