Building wall dramatically collapses onto footpath of Peterborough street

A building wall has dramatically collapsed onto a footpath of a Peterborough street this morning (January 20).

A major part of the wall of an old farm building on Cherry Orton Road, Orton Waterville has collapsed and the debris is now blocking the public footpath in the village.

The collapse is the second of its kind in a couple of days after the wall of a nearby property had also subsided.

Orton Waterville ward councillor Julie Howell has warned pedestrians to be careful and has expressed her concern about the situation.

Cllr Howell said: “It’s frightening that something like this could happen in this area. There’s a lot of elderly people that could have been walking by and someone standing in the wrong place at the wrong time could have been killed.

“Just one brick could have been enough let alone the whole thing coming down, we need to find out how this has been allowed to happen.”
