Bomb squad called to Peterborough street after ‘grenade’ found

Bomb disposal experts were called to a Peterborough street on Friday night after reports a grenade had been found.

Officers closed off Grove Street in Woodston following the discovery at about 5.30pm.

A Cambridgeshire police spokesman said: “At 5.27pm on Friday evening (5 November) police came across what appeared to be a grenade in Grove Street, while carrying out other enquiries. Explosive Ordnance Disposal attended and found it to be empty and just the shell casing, it has since been disposed.”
