Amazon Fire: Peterborough fire crews still dealing with hotspots following blaze

Fire crews are still dealing with hotspots at the Amazon Distribution Centre following a fire yesterday.

Around 50 tonnes of cardboard was destroyed in the blaze which struck yesterday lunchtime.

Fire crews were at the scene for a number of hours yesterday afternoon before leaving the site at 5pm.

The crews have returned to the scene on a number of occasions to ensure the scene stays safe - and today the clean up operations has begun, which has revealed a number of hotspots.

A Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “One crew has returned to the scene this morning and is there now helping the on-site staff clear the area. Moving the cardboard is revealing hotspots so the crew is helping deal with these.”

A cause has not yet been revealed.
