Even though you might have been born and bred in Peterborough, you might be unaware that our very own city is also the hometown to some famous A-listers, incredible atheletes and TV stars.
Many of the celebrities grew up here before flying the nest but there are some who have settled down in Peterborough - and surrounding areas - and still call the city home today.

5. Luke Pasqualino
Luke is a British actor who came to prominence as Freddy in the teen E4 drama in 2009, Skins. You might have spotted him in other primetime shows including BBC period drama, The Musketeers in 2014. In 2016 he appeared in the BBC drama, Our Girl, alongside Michelle Keegan and Shadow and Bone now on Netflix.
6. Louis Smith
Peterborough’s Louis Smith - and member of Huntingdon Gymnastics Club - is an Olympic gymnast who won a bronze medal in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, and silver medals in the 2012 London Olympics and the 2016 Rio Olympics (pictured). He also won a gold medal in the 2015 European Artistic Gymnastics Championships on the Pommel Horse. His television career blossomed considerably when he won the 2012 series of BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing with his partner, Flavia Cacace. Louis was appointed an MBE in the 2013 New Year Honours for services to gymnastics.
7. Himesh Patel
The actor is probably best known to us Brits for portraying Tamwar Masood in BBC soap EastEnders - but the actor left the square to go onto big hitting roles in the 2019 Danny Boyle’s Beatles musical Yesterday, the 2020 Christopher Nolan film, Tenet, and, more recently, in a 2021 Netflix original disaster blockbuster Don’t Look Up. The 31-year-old is originally from Sawtry and went to school at Prince William School in Oundle.
8. Cheryl Fergison
Actor Cheryl Fergison is best known for playing Heather Trott in the BBC1 soap EastEnders but to Peterborough folk, they might know her as a former Bretton Woods Community School pupil. This year, she’s starring as the Good Witch, Glinda, in The Wonderful Wizard Of Oz at The Cresset.
