Peterborough can now access faster and more reliable broadband than ever before – delivered by Zen

The UK’s only Which? recommended broadband provider is now available in Peterborough
Nearly 90,000 homes across the city can now access the Zen service over the CityFibre network.
Which? has named Zen as recommended provider for broadband for the fourth consecutive year. Zen earned five stars for customer service, technical support and communication. There were also top marks for value for money – one of only two providers to score the maximum in that category and 85 per cent of customers scoring them high in this area. Zen’s contract price promise that guarantees no mid-contract price rises on its residential broadband packages lies behind this praise, as well as an awesome service.
Zen Internet has partnered with infrastructure provider CityFibre to link as many homes as possible to faster, more reliable broadband. It means customers will no longer have to contend with buffering or slow internet connections.
A ban on Inflation-linked mid-contract price rises
New research from Zen discovered almost half of customers (49%) disagreed that they would consider a mid-contract price rise above inflation in their broadband contract to be fair. And importantly, 75% were in support of a proposed ban on this practice by telecoms regulator Ofcom.
Despite it being widespread across the broadband industry, Ofcom has announced a proposed ban on inflation linked mid-contract price rises. A formal decision is due imminently. Ofcom has found customers of the big four providers saw their contract prices go up by as much as 8.8% in April.
Any mid-contract price rise would not be considered fair by 39%, however, many were held back over a fear of switching broadband provider. Hassle 27%, cost 19%, and fear of internet disruption 18% were stopping people switching.
Zen also found 34% would switch but were unsure where to go. Meanwhile, 51% said if switching broadband providers was easier and more hassle free they would be more likely to consider it.

Charlie Kitchin, CityFibre’s Partnership Manager for Peterborough, said: “We are really excited to be bringing this reliable and lightning- fast broadband service to thousands of homes in Peterborough. All of us as consumers of technology are increasingly reliant on reliable connectivity, and full fibre broadband over the CityFibre network is delivering just that.”
Zen price promise for contracts
Richard Tang, CEO, Zen Internet, said: “Research shows price, reliability, and speed are top factors when choosing a broadband provider and Zen has again scored top marks across these categories. We also have a huge ethical focus putting people and the planet ahead of financial return for shareholders.”
Zen pledges to buck the trend for inflation-linked price increases in contracts. Which? found the rises are the equivalent of a 13th month being added to customers’ bills.
