Disruption on Peterborough railways this weekend

Peterborough train passengers are being reminded of disruption on the railways in the region this weekend.

Network Rail will be carrying out a series of emergency works to replace 87 pairs of wheel timbers on the railway tracks on four bridges at Manea following a derailment of a freight train earlier this year. The work will require closures of the line between Ely and Peterborough on Saturday and Sunday (August 22 and 23)

During the closure, there will be no direct trains between Liverpool Lime Street and Norwich. Trains from the North East will terminate at Peterborough. Trains from Norwich will terminate at Ely. Express rail replacement coaches will run between Peterborough and Norwich. There will also be a rail replacement bus serving intermediate stations between Peterborough and Ely.

The closure of the line is part of a series of closures over the coming months, including the line being shut for 28 days between 6th September and 4th October.

Closures are also taking place on Sunday 11th October, Saturday 31st October & Sunday 1st November, Sunday 8th November.
